Water Canopy? Huh?
by Mr. Falcon in*** w80 11/15 p. 23 par.
4 jehovah of armies to the rescue!
the fact that today we do not have a vast water canopy suspended high up in space and all around our globe and thus blocking direct sunlight, moonlight and starlight is because jehovah saw what was going on down here upon his terrestrial footstool and took action.

$20 says that if this is proven true the WTBS will do nothing. They won't mention it, won't acknowledge it, just close their eyes and hope nobody notices. And by the way they have completely desolated the thinking ability of 90% of it's "flock", this COLLOSSAL discovery (if verified, of course) will go totally unnoticed.

One of my Life's Accomplishments
by Nellie ina few days ago i picked up a book entitled "life lessons for women - 7 essestial ingredients for a balanced life.
" i imagine that many of us (especially ex-jws) are on a quest to find balance and the title of this book appealed to me.. this is one of those books that challenges you to look inward and examine what who you are.
no sooner had i begun reading (pg 13) when i faced my first real challenge....the question reads: "what are 3 things i've accomplished in my life that i'm most proud of?".

I wish you success. It's nice to see a woman, or really anyone, make a stand for their own integrity. "To thy ownself be true."
Women are second class citizens in the Kingdom Hall. They are baby-machines, cooks and weekday pioneers. Recently, I heard some "counsel" concerning the audio setup for the Ministry School when sisters have to give a talk. Some elders were very insistant that the chairs have to be carefully set up so that the sisters are facing each other and not in anyway facing the audience. (The idea was that if a sister faced the audience, it might be construed as her teaching the congregation. No lie. This was said with a straight face.)
I never understood the disrespect towards females. If their doctrine teaches that women are among the 144,000 who will rule in heaven with Jesus, then why is it the end of the world if a woman gives a sermon, a prayer or whatever? Then again, what do I know?

Ministerial Servant prosecuted for fraud in 2001 is made up to Elder
by James_Slash insorry guys, i can't link the full article (as i don't know how) but this is the address.. http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1g1-111236724.html.
this is the news article (only in part as it is now archived) but this guy i know personally and he was made up to an elder a couple of years ago:.
a birmingham technician who went bankrupt after losing almost pounds 100,000 on rash speculations on the stock market has been ordered to do 200 hours' community punishment.

You can find them after every circuit assembly or district convention at the finer restaurants in town socializing with the CO & DO & Bethel guests.
Absolutely. The politics is so thick at the level that you would think you're attending a election campaign event. These guys use every little "privilege" as if it is a resume. They love to tell you all about every little thing they ever did, every department that they were "in-charge" of, every appointment, who they know in Bethel, one first name basis with CO's, the works. I recall being told by apologists of this nonsense that "the CO's can tell when someone is kissing up to them, they don't let that effect them." Oh really? We from what I see these CO & DO fellas sure do like the celebrity status. And they assign the assembly talks to the guys who brown-nose them; the competition for those talks on the conventions is fierce.
If I hadn't been an elder I don't think I'd ever have seen all the 'business' type practices that were more important than the wellbeing of the 'flock'.
Well said, punkofnice. I got my first inkling that something was amiss when I got to see behind the scenes how much emphasis they put on the money collection. Always about the dollar. Always about the bloody dollar. Everything else was just a minor issue, the money came first. I always pictured Jesus running in there with a rope-whip, because they all look like money-collectors at the temple. It's run like the Mafia at that level.

The BOE I was on worked on a kind of 3 year rehabilitation period.
punk, I've heard of this mysterious "3 year" thing, but I've never found any policy documentation supporting it. Kind of like an unwritten law, right? Whatever it is, it sure don't seem "divinely-inspired" to me.

Adam was by himself for 35 1/2 years and counting....
by dozy inaccording to jw bible chronology , adam was created some 6000 years before 1975 & as armageddon hasn't arrived yet , he has been alone for all the equivalent years since then (despite the wtbts claiming that adam was only on his own for just a few weeks or months.).
luckily as a perfect man , he had no sexual desires.... .
adam felt no desires of sex.

Mr. Falcon
I was told, back in the mid-70s, that Adam needed to alone long enough to ponder the meaning of disobedience and the death that results from it. He would see animals around him eventually dying, and from this learn that his fate would be similar.
who told you this??? That's GOLD.
I always wondered about the whole woman creation thing. The way the Bible is worded it's almost sounds like God forgot to give Adam a means to procreate, despite giving all the animals mates. So he was like, "Oh crap, I knew I forgot something." So he makes Adam pass out, bada-bing, bada-rib, and wah-la.....
So, did God forget to make woman or had he planned it? Or was Adam staring at his tube steak thinking, "What the hell is this for?"

Yeah, that sounds about right. It happens. I know of several JW men who were involved in VERY shady business dealings that bilked their "brothers" out of a lot of money, only to be appointed elders, convention committee men, CoBOE's, the works.
Knew one cat who sued his own biological (and spiritual) brother over some financial nonsense. He won and his brother didn't have all the judgment money, so this materialistic dirtbag marched his poor brother BACK to court and put liens on all he owns. Now that's gangsta. Now the dude is some big shot in the circuit; you see him up on stage all schmoozing up to the CO and DO. Sickening.
This guy you mentioned in your post, I'm assuming he had some money and/or pull to be well-liked by the powers that be. So they "overlook" this serious red flag to his "qualifications" and give him a thumbs up. Now he can counsel and DF people. That's boss.

They don't even know their own doctrines...
by Leto ini had an interesting exchange on facebook with some random jw's on the april auxillary piosneering page.
seems they don't realize that the watchtower has set itself up as the mediator between the great crowd and jesus.
i post multiple watchtowers that outright say that "jesus is not mediator towards all mankind, but only 'spiritual israel', or the 144,000...".

FDS says - "No need to check our work. Besides, it will only make God angry."
by Crisis of Conscience inthough i no longer believe the fds is indeed appointed by god, i guess because of what has been taught to me all these years through the wtbts, i still make an effort to try and look at both sides.
and then i come across this number below, which is how i arrived at my title for this thread.

Then the Bereans were bad examples? Or good? Dammit, CoC, now I'm confused.

Black Sheep - good point. That's the interpretation I figured as well. One thing is for sure, regardless of the translation used: the language used is much too vague and out-dated scientifically to make ANY kind of argument for a water canopy theory.
Franklin - That's how I roll, partner.
